It started with discovering all the names of my ancestors that were already in my tree. I had not lifted a finger and yet due to the efforts of others, I had many generations in my tree. However, I discovered that there were several mistakes, errors, and duplicates in my tree. I was told that this could all be resolved with a little more research to find actual records that documented that the correct names were in the right places.
What I actually found by this process was that I was discovering WHO these people were! This was a stunning and much unexpected revelation! I found that I was on a mission to accumulate as many photos, stories, and documents as possible. This effort resulted in a very large collection of data on 5 to 6 generations of direct line ancestors. These collections lead to another stunning and much unexpected revelation. It’s hard to explain, but I will try. I love my children, parents and grandparents because I know and/or knew them so well. Now because of my record collection efforts, I also now know my entire first, second and third great grandparents EXTREMLY WELL and really love them. When we meet again I can’t imagine how much better it will be. I knew there could be no further stunning revelations. I was wrong
I decided to go on a two day cemetery road trip up through Utah to see and photograph Head Stones. I drove to cemeteries in Saint George, Cedar City, over the mountain to Panguitch, back over the mountain to Beaver, Milford, Kanosh, Fillmore and on to Salt Lake City. During the two day trip I photographed headstones of more than 30 ancestors. I found myself standing at their feet. I cannot describe what I felt like being in the presence of their mortal remains only to say that I was humbled to tears.
